I have been a lifelong resident of central Ohio enjoying or enduring wildly unpredictable weather, great people and tastey food!
I graduated from Central Ohio School of Massage in September of 1991, and received licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board in February of 1992. Shortly thereafter I began the process of growing a small massage therapy practice in Groveport, Ohio around my young family.
Over the years my skills developed and the business grew. I have taken many continuing education classes (a complete list is available upon request). My main areas of interest and skill development have been great Swedish techniques, deep tissue, myofascial and trigger point release and stretching. I have found these very useful in helping to achieve the desired goals of my clients. Usually these goals include: decrease pain, increase deep sleep, increase musculoskeletal function, improve work/sports performance, decrease sense of anxiety, positively influence blood sugar levels.
Currently, I am studying group training for teaching mind/body exercise classes like yoga and Pilates. In the experience of many people, the body responds positively to well thought out movement and breathing practices for the recovery from trauma, performance enhancement, and anxiety relief.
In addition, I have successfully completed a module in Che Ne Tsang, massage of the vital organs.
Special areas of interest include:
- yoga and Pilates for rehabilitation from physical trauma, strength and maintenance
- nutrition and its effects on function
- post traumatic stress disorder - recovery from emotional trauma
- recovery from addictive behavior
