Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Trauma Specific Massage uses a variety of techniques to reduce pain and limitations resulting from a trauma such as a fall, automobile accident, sports injury or surgery. Techniques include but are not limited to; deep tissue, fascial and trigger point releases, and PIMR (post isometric muscle release).
These tools are also useful for relief from chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, TMJ, and scoliosis. Regular medical massage therapy can greatly reduce limitations, increase function and improve quality of life.
An additional option is abdominal massage. Many of us are overwhelmed with back, neck or limb pain and we forget about the abdomin! The abdomin or core has layers of muscle, fascia and fat covering, protecting and insulating our organs. Benefits of abdominal massage therapy include improvement of digestion through manual techniques and improvement of organ and system function through fascial and energy release. Often back pain is relieved once abdominal fascia is balanced and trigger points are released.
